Editability is a specific capability.
WordPress alone does not make a website easy to maintain editorially. The relevant questions are what editors can change, which design rules stay fixed and how a preview works before publication. These are requirements to design and implement.
We distinguish page layouts, reusable content components and structured records. A reference card is not necessarily another layout. Likewise, 20 references do not always require 20 individually designed pages.
An example of a useful editorial workflow.
Your team adds a service using an approved page type, enters the title, text and image, checks links and the preview, and obtains subject-matter approval. A separate development engagement should not be necessary for that agreed standard task when its layout and functions already exist.
A calculator, a new data structure or an integration changes the requirement. Component reuse does not mean unlimited new functionality.
Guardrails help design and accessibility.
Prepared components can keep heading structure, spacing and controls consistent. Content still requires care: descriptive link text, appropriate image alternatives and meaningful labels are not reliably created by a theme alone.
A handover should therefore explain the editing tasks that are actually supported. We demonstrate the commissioned workflow and identify changes that need technical or subject-matter review.
Choose a bounded editorial architecture.
WordPress provides tools including blocks and patterns. The right implementation depends on the existing site, functions and team. A usable established system does not need replacing simply because a redesign is underway. The selection, licences and maintenance responsibilities are documented.
- Inventory the required layouts and repeated components.
- Distinguish editable content from fixed design rules.
- Define roles, approvals and the preview route.
- Complete a real standard editing task during handover.
Editorial operation is different from technical maintenance.
Editorial operation concerns changing content. Technical maintenance concerns matters such as updates, backups, checks and incidents. Both need owners, but they are different services.
The editorial system stays useful when later changes respect its rules. Ongoing content work or technical care can be separately agreed; neither is automatically imposed by buying the website.

Put this into your website scope
We agree the layouts and editorial workflow you actually need. A small, understandable system is often the right starting point.
